What sessions look like
A first session, then the work.
Your first session
Fifty minutes about getting to know you. We talk about what's brought you in, your situation in detail and what you're hoping for. By the end, we'll have a sense of direction and can start thinking about a plan together.
Following sessions
We work toward your goals using evidence-based approaches and check in regularly about whether the work is helpful. Some people work with Karen for 6–10 sessions; others longer-term.
Approach
Evidence-based, matched to you.
Karen draws on whatever fits the work, held within warmth, respect and a genuine belief in your capacity to change.
Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT)
Understanding how thoughts, feelings and behaviours connect, and learning to work with the patterns that keep you stuck.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
Building a meaningful life alongside difficult feelings, rather than waiting for them to pass.
EMDR
An evidence-based approach for working gently with trauma and distressing memories, at a pace that feels right.
Mindfulness and somatic work
Working with your body and present-moment awareness so insight settles in lived experience, not just thought.
Attachment-focused work
Understanding the relational patterns shaping your closest relationships today.
Fees and payment
Clear pricing, flexible payment options.
Sessions are $240 for 50 minutes. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, Medicare rebates $149.05, leaving an out-of-pocket of $90.95.
Mindwise also accepts NDIS (self-, plan- and agency-managed), Workcover, TAC, and private health insurance.
