FAQs

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO COME IN?
No, you are not required to have a GP referral to receive counselling. However, if you have a GP Mental Health Care Plan you will be entitled to a rebate from Medicare.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Everybody is different, and the treatment is different for everybody. With a Mental Health Care Plan in place from your GP, you will receive a rebate for 6 sessions within a calendar year. The maximum available sessions from Medicare are 10 within a calendar year.

CAN I CLAIM ON MY PRIVATE HEALTH FUND?
You will need to contact your Private Health Fund and ask if they will cover Registered Psychology. If you do have cover, we will provide you with a receipt to take to your insurer to claim the rebate. We cannot advise on rebate amounts as these differ depending on level of cover.

DO YOU SEE COUPLES?
We have several practitioners who offer couples counselling. However these sessions are not covered by Medicare.

HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
The sessions run for 50 minutes.

DO YOU SEE CHILDREN?
We do have counsellors who will see children, generally from age 10 and over.

ARE THERE AFTER HOURS APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE?
Yes, we have Psychologists available after hours and on Saturdays.
